Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can feel like a confusing and daunting process. Please take a look through the FAQs opposite which will shed some light on how it all works.
If you choose to work with me, we will both sign a therapy agreement. This provides more detailed information about what you can expect from me, as well as what is expected of you during our work together.
The initial consultation is also an opportunity for you to ask any further questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

If you feel that counselling might be right for you and you're interested in working with me, please get in touch by email or the form on the Fees and Contact page. Assuming I have availability we will set up an initial conversation that is free of charge.
During the conversation, I’ll ask some questions about you, your reasons for seeking therapy, and a little about your history and background. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about me and how I work. This first meeting is a chance for us both to see whether we’re a good fit. This session will take place either virtually or by telephone, even if the subsequent therapy sessions will happen in person.
If we decide to move forwards we will agree a day and time to meet weekly. If we decide that we are not the right fit, I am happy to share alternative options.

The length of therapy is different for everyone. Some people come for just a few sessions to focus on a specific issue, while others seek open-ended support for several months or years.
We’ll regularly review our work together so that the therapy moves at a pace and depth that feels right for you.
At the time that you feel you would like to end the work, we will discuss this together and agree the best way to bring the work to a close.

Finding the right therapist is a personal process. The most important thing is that you feel safe and able to be yourself in our sessions.
Take a look through the Approach and About me page for more information about the way I work and see if this resonates with you.
The initial consultation is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and for us both to get a sense of whether we could be a good fit.
I encourage you to notice how you feel during our first few meetings — do you feel listened to, respected, and supported? That’s often the best guide. If for any reason it doesn’t feel like the right fit, I’ll be happy to help you think about what might work better for you.

Payments are made by bank transfer and are due weekly ahead of each session.

We will meet once a week, typically on the same day and at the same time. This is a two-way commitment that we make for the duration of our work together.
I will communicate my annual leave holiday dates well in advance so that you are able to plan ahead.
If for some reason I need to cancel a session at short notice, you will not be charged.
-
I can offer in person sessions in several London locations including Queens Park (NW6), Stoke Newington (N16) and High Street Kensington (W8).
Alternatively we can meet online using virtual meeting software e.g. Zoom or GoogleMeet.
-
Regular attendance supports the best therapeutic outcomes and as part of our agreement we are both committing to weekly sessions.
However, if you do need to cancel a session then please let me know with as much notice as possible. Sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the session will be charged at full rate.
